Dedicated, Talented Teachers

Aim High recruits faculty and teaching assistants for the middle school program from schools throughout St. Louis City and County. The criteria for their selection includes: experience with elementary students, knowledge of the socioeconomic background of the students, and an ability to serve as successful role models. Aim High attempts to recruit as many teachers as possible from participating school districts.

Administrators and Senior Faculty

  • Beth Louis, Executive Director: Mrs. Louis focuses on administrative duties as well as overseeing and coordinating all aspects of program, operational, and fund-raising related activities
  • Daniel Harris, John Burroughs Site Director: Mr. Harris earned his B.A. in African-American Studies and Political Science at Washington University where he also spent a year in law school before entering education. He is in his 8th year at John Burroughs where he serves as the school's Director of Diversity and Multicultural Education. He also teaches African-American studies, is a student adviser and a track and football coach.
  • John Merritt, St. Louis Priory Site Director: Mr. Merritt earned his B.A. in Education, History and African-American Studies at Washington University. He is currently completing an MA in Educational Curriculum and Instruction at St. Louis University.  Mr. Merritt is the Middle School Director at Crossroads College Preparatory School.  He teaches American Government and African-American History, in addition to serving as Head Track and Field Coach.
  • David Hill, Operations Director: Mr. Hill earned his B.A. in Communications from Penn State University in 1985 and a Master's degree from Indiana State University in 1998. Mr. Hill coordinates day-to-day summer operations, graduate tracking and student/community outreach.
  • Judith Coleman, Development Director: Mrs. Coleman earned her B.A. in Urban Studies from Mount Holyoke College. A seasoned community volunteer for many years in the St. Louis area, Mrs. Coleman is responsible for all fund-raising, marketing and public relations activities at Aim High.
